I had a friend once tell me “I can neither take credit or blame for the words that come out of my kids mouths.” I did not fully understand this till I had 3 little bundle of joy of my own.
Conversation overheard between a 4-year-old girl and boy (my girl, and the neighbor boy)
My daughter says “Girls are made out of sugar and spice and everything nice. Boys are made of snakes and snails and puppy dog tails”
Neighbor replies “No, uh-uh. Boys are made out of bones. You know how I was made?”
Now at this point I am a little concerned that I may have to defuse the situation, but really they are only 4, how much can they really know?
Daughter says “You were made by your Mommy!”
Neighbor refutes “Nope! I was made by my Daddy. He got bit by a dinosaur and then I was in my Mommy’s belly and then I fell down, and right down her leg and they cut me right out of her foot!” He says this with all honesty and seriousness. He is definitely the authority on dinosaur bite impregnation technique. It was a great afternoon spent with the kids.
I liked your blog very much.
I want to thank you for the contribution.
