I have known for some time now that I may have made a mistake in naming all 3 of my similarly featured female children names that all start with the same letter. This fact really didn’t hit home with me until last week. My 93-year-old grandmother just comes right out and plainly states “I can’t keep them all straight, and they look like you made them out of the same cookie cutter.”
When S was in town with her 3-year-old son he said “Where’s the Other Sultana?” The original Sultana was sitting in the same room with him and he said “Not that one (the real one), the other one!” At which point we aimed him towards the playroom in the basement, where my other two were located.
Then I went to a friends house for lunch, and my older 2 were still not out for winter break yet, and my friends kids look at Shush as soon as she gets in the door and ask her “Where are the Other ones?”
My Other friend E has 2 sons 4 and 2 years old. When her sons talk about the girls he calls them by our last name Girls. When he is referring to them singularly her call them the Last Name Girl.
The boys who lived next door just called you SultanaSass. All one word, and applied to all of you.
Sass called Shush Sass 2 weeks ago. Not even her sister’s name. She called her sister her own name.
Well, it’s too late now. Sorry girls. I know which one you are even if I can’t call you the right name the first time. I can’t rename you. Plus, your names have grown on you. I love you. I will help with therapy bill later on in life if need be.
