The original motivation for this blog was two Moms who didn’t feel they could carry on an educated conversation about current events with news-savvy friends. In our kid-centered households television and radio news were not age-appropriate and our time was too precious to sift through the opinion in websites or print. Our original epiphany was to create a short, sweet newsletter sent by snail mail. We still think that would be awesome, but it’s too risky a prospect to quit our day jobs yet.
This blog is the essence of that concept sans constraints, deadlines, and financial commitment. We believe other busy people (especially parents) are in the same boat as us. Our families are our priority and we want to spend our non-work hours with our kids, spouses, and people we love. We also want to be good citizens which means being informed and involved. Soon after embarking on this project, we realized not just parents are struggling with this time management stuff and that we actually had knowledge and experiences that might help others. This is how the Beyond the… Gift Guides and Beyond the Bustle timesaver articles began. We will keep researching and writing as long as people keep reading!
