Two weeks ago A1 called and invited my daughters to a tea party. She said to dress them up fancy. My girls were all excited and picked out their outfits the night before. So as I am making dinner the night before the tea party A1 calls and says “What are you wearing to the tea party?” To which I look down and reply “these cut offs and a clean t-shirt?” I end it like a question because 95% of the lower half of my wardrobe is denim and she well knows that. Then A1 says “I just got off the phone with A2 and she thought that we ALL were dressing up. All as in kids and the 3 of us adults. I had not planned on it, but I told her I would dress up if you dress up.”
So at this point in the conversation I am laughing good. Because I know A2 and I am pretty sure she has her outfit all picked out and it includes a froofy dress with matching heals and hat. I know she will have some fancy jewelry on, and quite possibly a clutch to round out the outfit.(This is the same friend who was trying to kill a snake with a brick in her Sunday dress in a previous post, I referred to her as a Georgia Peach)
On a whim I say to A1 “You know what? I’ll do it. I’ll do my hair and makeup and everything.” The other end of the line is quite for a good 15 seconds… Then I hear “Really? Because I was sure you were not going to.” I said to A1 “If A2 wants to get all dresses up and fancy, then why not? Lets do it. But if we are going to do it, lets do it right and tell A2 to bring me a hat too!”
So we embark upon A1’s house at noon the following day. My girls are dressed up, I am dresses up, with my hair and makeup done just right. I looked so fancy a man at Tim Horton’s let me cut in line and winked at me! A1 went all out, and set up the cutest area for the kids to have their party and she made the moms a delicious punch. It was so good. I am not sure what the name of the punch was, but it should of been called “this for the Mom’s not you kids” we said it enough. It was a great time. Thank you A1. And thanks to A2 to making us all be fancy and bringing the hats!
