I live in Michigan and we are on our 7th (maybe 8th) snow day since the new year. Plus throw in 2 half days and MLK day. I have an 8, a 6 and an almost 4 year old. They are finding new and “creative” ways of entertaining themselves. (After the threat of an early bed time if they harass me one more time with “I’m soooooo booored”) I don’t allow all day in front of the TV. They have Barbies and dolls and their new interest is legos. They have plenty of toys. I am trying to get caught up on some work so I am on the computer room which is off the dining room which is a straight shot from the family room through the kitchen. I hear them playing with the dogs. I think to myself great. I know the dogs have been bored too. They are barking at every little noise. We are all going stir crazy. Then here comes the tennis ball from the family room through the kitchen off the dining room wall into the file cabinet next to the computer I am presently typing on. Then comes the greyhound off the wall and into the file cabinet sliding all the way (she needs her nails cut; no traction). All I can do is laugh. I think I am going to go mad. I keep threatening to drop them off at school tomorrow regardless if it is open or not.

I am so glad we’ve only had two snow days. Sometimes it’s nice Mr. C is not in real “school” yet. All the other folks at my office are trading off days since the local schools were closed a lot more days than our daycare. I swear I don’t know any parents who use less than half their vacation days with sick children or for school closures!
