The impetus for this blog is that one of my best friends didn’t feel like she could carry on a conversation about current events with friends. In her 3-young kid-centered household television or radio news is not age-appropriate and time is too limited to sift through all the opinion on websites or print. Our original epiphany was to create a short and sweet newsletter that you could get a print copy of in the mail. Although we think that would be awesome, we would have to quit our day jobs to do it right. This blog is the essence of that concept, sans constraints, commitment, and cost. We believe that other parents are in the same boat as us; our famlies are our priority, we want to spend our non-work hours with our kids, but we also want to be good citizens which means being informed and involved. If it turns out we’re right, well, maybe a newsletter someday.
We may also post pictures and links to resources and products we love (minimally). And in keeping with our theme, I’ll start with these: both our favorite sippy cups; playtex insulated non-spill. You can buy one on http://www.amazon.com or your local grocery store; cheap, easy to find, and actually don’t spill. Just make sure you label them because at daycare everyone else will have some too. Check out Oliver’s Labels at: www.oliverslabels.com/calvinsmom for those.

I certainly can relate to that Mommy! Several times recently people were asking me about the Arias trial and if I thought that girl was guilty or not… all I could say is that I had no clue as I had not even watched one minute of it on TV. Most of the time my TV is tuned in to Disney Jr. and I don’t really change it. When the Boston Marathon events occurred I did turn it on and then had to try to explain to my 3 year old how there are bad people in the world that try to hurt other people because they are angry. I usually try to read the news on the internet but even that is hard to get to some days.
