I’m slowly going insane. I am being driven there in a navy blue minivan. My wardens are all under 4 and a half feet tall, blonde, and cute as buttons.
Really though, this is the conversation I just had with Shush (now 5 years old.)
She comes up from feeding the cats in the basement with her stuffed animal in her hand.
I ask “Why was there a stuffed animal in the freezer in the basement?” (1st time)
Shush replies. “He’s not, he’s right here.”
Again I ask “Why was there a stuffed animal in the freezer in the basement?” (2nd time)
Shush responds “He’s not anymore, I took him out.”
Once again”Why was there a stuffed animal in the freezer in the basement?” (3rd time)
Her retort “He wasn’t in the freezer, he was in the fridge.”
I’m going to loose it soon, I feel it coming on.”Why was there a stuffed animal in the fridge(corrected) in the basement?”
Very calmly she replies, while looking at me like I am the crazy one “Because he is a penguin.”
Then she runs out to play in the backyard with her sisters.
I just want to point out that I am going crazy, and as frustrating as this conversation was, that is not the reason I am currently doubting my facilities.
You have to understand that I saw said penguin in the fridge yesterday while I was putting away some groceries, and didn’t do anything other than note his current location.
