It was a snowy December day in 1996 in downtown Detroit. I had to trek across the Wayne State Campus. I had 3 classes that day. A Bio class in the morning, a UGL class at noon then at 3pm an Algebra class at Old Main. I got out of my little car when BAM! The strap of my backpack snapped. Pressed for time and options, I went to the college bookstore. They only had JanSport Backpacks. My choices were forest green and black. I chooses the green, and transferred all the books from my broken pack to my new JanSport. Let me tell you I was not impressed. I didn’t like the color, and it was pricey for a freshman on a limited income. Being I had NO choice I transferred my 15 pounds of books and supplies from the broken pack to my new pack.
Now almost 18 years later Sultana and Sass needed new backpacks for school. Last year I bought some inexpensive backpacks that came with free lunch boxes. I ended up replacing those packs around Christmas time. One zipper broken, and one pocket pulled off. So I explained to the girls that we were going to spend a little bit more on a quality backpack that will last them more than one year. We went and they each picked out a JanSport backpack. (The color selection has drastically improved.) The tags on the bags boasted of a lifetime guarantee.
My husband and I had just returned from a cruise, and I noticed that the weather proofing film was pealing away on the inside of my 18 year old bag. I decided to test their warranty. I went online and filled out the return authorization form and mailed it in. 3 weeks later I had a new pack sent to my door step!
I was impressed with the quality of my first bag, it lasted me 18 years. 6 of those years were college years with college books. I decided to get my girls some quality packs that would hold up to some wear and tear. Then upon discovery of their lifetime warranty they replaced my old pack, relatively no questions asked. JanSport has throughly impressed me with their products and customer service.
